Scene showing a colonial codex painted and displayed by Nahuas of central Mexico. The artist of this mural, Diego Rivera, borrowed elements from known pictorial manuscripts to suggest images of conquest, the introduction of Christianity, coercive labor systems, and other aspects of the Spanish colonial enterprise.
