in Nahuatl and Wixarika
through the
Zacatecas State University
Language Center
Older
and Modern Nahuatl for native speakers. John Sullivan teaches daily
classes from 9 to 10 in the morning and 2 to 3 in the afternoon
at the Zacatecas Institute for Teaching and Research in Ethnology
for native speakers of Nahuatl. Currently we are reading and commenting
on the Nahuatl portion of Book 12 of the Florentine Codex and translating
it into Modern Huastecan Nahuatl. We are also working on a monolingual
dictionary of Modern Huatecan Nahuatl.
Modern
Wixarika (Huichol) for native speakers. John Sullivan teaches
a daily class from 5 to 6 in the afternoon at the Zacatecas Institute
for Teaching and Research in Ethnology for native speakers of Wixarika.
Currently, we are preparing a course in spoken Wixarika for non-native
speakers.
Older
and Modern Nahuatl for non-native speakers. Delfina de la Cruz teaches
a series of daily hour-long classes between 1:30 and 4:00 in the
afternoon at the Zacatecas State University Language Center for
non-native speakers.
Intensive
course in Older and Modern Nahuatl for non-native speakers. This
intensive summer course, taught by John Sullivan, Delfina de la
Cruz and various native-speaking teaching assistants, is designed
for university students and professors. The 2007 session will be
held at the Zacatecas Institute for Teaching and Research in Ethnology
from June 25 to August 3. FLAS funding is available for US graduate
students through their home institutions.
