AboutThe Society for Interdisciplinary Feminist Phenomenology was created in 2006 by Dr. Bonnie Mann and Dr. Beata Stawarska, professors in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Oregon and affiliated faculty at the Center for the Study of Women in Society. Dr. Sara Heinämaa, Senior lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Helsinki, Finland and Professor of Women's Studies at the Centre for Women's Studies and Gender Research at the University of Oslo, Norway, is co-founder and International Adviser of SIFP, and Dr. Eva Maria Simms, Professor of Psychology at Duquesne University, is co-founder and National Adviser of SIFP. SIFP was created with generous funding from the University of Oregon's Center for the Study of Women in Society, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School, the Humanities Center, and the Department of Philosophy, in order to establish a community of feminist scholars working in and between various disciplines (including developmental psychology, linguistics, neuroscience, and philosophy) and employing phenomenology.
